The Phillies look set to welcome their talisman(you’ve been watching the World Cup, you know what it means now) back to the lineup this week. Will it finally be for good?
All signs point to Philadelphia’s star shortstop finally coming back off the disabled list this week, perhaps as early as Tuesday. And Rollins — who has played in only 12 games this season due to two stints on the disabled list for a strained right calf — arrives at a critical juncture for the Phillies.
Rollins is the leader of this Phillies team. Not only was his bat and glove missed, but the swagger he brings with him on a daily basis was missed as well.
“Jimmy helps bring that extra bit of swagger back to the team,” Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard said. “He believes in what our team can do and what we’re capable of doing. We just go out and do our best to back him up. But he definitely brings that leadership role back. It’ll be good to have him back.”
