Recap: Phillies Beat Reds For 3rd Straight Walkoff Win

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) – Philadelphia catcher Carlos Ruiz broke up Travis Wood’s bid for perfection with a leadoff double in the ninth inning and scored the winning run on Jimmy Rollins’ single in the bottom of the 11th, as the Phillies edged Cincinnati, 1-0, at Citizens Bank Park.

It was the third straight walk-off win in extra innings for the Phillies, the first time that has been accomplished in franchise history.

Ruiz, who came off the disabled list earlier in the day, stroked a double off Bill Bray (0-1) with one away in the 11th and Wilson Valdez was intentionally walked. Logan Ondrusek replaced Bray after pinch-hitter Ross Gload flied out and then yielded the game-ending hit to Rollins, a line drive to right field.
