Rod Thorn met the Philadelphia media today as he was introduced as the new President of the 76ers.
Some people thought I was retired, but I just retired from the Nets. I expected to be back in basketball and had several opportunities, but this was the one where I felt I could do something good.
Comcast chairman Peter Lukko said they decided to bring in Thorn as President and leave Ed Stefanski as GM(who was previously both president and GM) because the job is “too much” for one guy to do. It appears that the structure will be for Thorn to be in charge of pro personnel moves while Stefanski focuses on scouting and the draft. Lukko also said that the team was not looking for another executive, the only reason they acted is because the availability of Rod Thorn presented a unique opportunity.
