It wasn’t too long ago that the Braves were enjoying a 7 games lead at the top of the NL East and all was good in Atlanta. Fast forward to just a couple weeks later and things are looking decidedly worse for the Braves.
↵The Phillies have went on a tear and closed the gap to as little as one game(it’s 2.5 right now). Now, the Braves learned that they’ve lost Chipper Jones for the year.
↵↵↵The news all Braves fans were dreading today has finally come. Third baseman Chipper Jones will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL. The Braves lose their leader on the field. They lose perhaps their most important hitter. This will be a huge blow to morale on the team, and a most unfortunate way for such a respected player like Jones to end his season, and possibly his career.

Is the writing on the wall for the Braves now? Can they possibly hold onto to first without Chipper? I guess it’s fair to point out that losing all your best players to injury hasn’t sunk the Phillies.
