The Phillies officially activated Chase Utley from the disabled list, and he will batting second and starting at second base tonight.
Utley was expected to be out until the last week of August or the first week of September, but when he was cleared to hit again last week, it became clear that Utley wouldn’t remain on the DL that long. He made four rehab starts with Single-A Clearwater and flew to Philadelphia today to rejoin the team.
To make room, the Phillies designated Greg Dobbs for assignment. They decided to keep Domonic Brown in the majors.
