Jesse Biddle Headed to Williamsport

According to 'ze Twitter of Matt Gelb, Jesse Biddle will take his impressive rookie numbers and dashing smile north to Williamsport. Selecting the Germantown Friends grad as the first pick in the 2010 draft when higher upside and more expensive prospects were still on the board was initially met with scrutiny, but Biddle's season has been very promising. Says PhillyFriar of The Good Phight:

As for Biddle himself, even after a rough outing yesterday, his 33.1 inning sample this year still looks great: 11.1 K/9, 2.4 BB/9, 0.54 HR/9, 39.4% GB, 2.33 FIP. He's definitely a Top 10 prospect in the system in my book, and I'm excited to see what he can do next year after a full offseason spent with a pro conditioning staff and pitching coordinators.

Strangely enough, this promotion comes on the heels of that rough outing (one inning, five earned). After a great few months of pro ball, testing the kid with a promotion seems like a good idea without much risk. With the recent release of Kevin Angelle for undisclosed team reasons, Biddle joins an interesting Crosscutter rotation with co-2010 draftees Mario Hollands and David Buchanan.
