The Philadelphia Union travel north to Gillette Stadium in Foxborough Massachusetts, a venue Philly fans are all too familiar with. The Revs, who are owned by New England Patriots boss Bob Kraft share a stadium with the NFL team.
Unlike their NFL counterparts, the Revolution aren't favorites to make the playoffs this year. They sit just one spot ahead of the Union in the Eastern Conference standings on 21 points. The expansion Union haven't looked like playoff contenders all year, but at least had hoped to be seeing improvement as the year progress. That hasn't happened. If anything, the team appears to be getting worse. Arguably their worst loss of the season came just a week ago when they lost to the worst team in MLS, DC United, by a score of 2-0.
The Revolution do have a good shot at some hardware this season however, they will play in the final of the Superliga this Wednesday against Mexican club Morella. The Superliga is a tournament between the top teams in MLS and top teams the Mexican soccer league. Could the Revolution, who aren't likely to figure in the MLS playoffs, possibly look past this Union game in hopes in winning a trophy in the Superliga on Wednesday?
