Packers At Eagles: DeSean Jackson May Not Be Returning Punts

Previously, Andy Reid announced that DeSean Jackson & Ellis Hobbs would be the starting punt and kickoff return men respectively. Today, he hinted that the arrival of rookie Jorrick Calvin may have changed that. Here's an excerpt from his press conference today.

On whether WR DeSean Jackson and CB Ellis Hobbs will be used as returners in the upcoming game:

"I'm debating on that right now, but we'll see how it goes here."

On what is factoring into the decision as to whether or not Jackson and Hobbs will return:

"Well, I've got [CB Jorrick] Calvin. I've got Calvin here, so I've brought him in to kind of do that, help out there, so we'll just see."

On whether Calvin may be used on both kick returns and punt returns:

"Yeah, he does both."

Calvin was a productive return man in college, albeit not quite as productive as DeSean Jackson was... Here's an excerpt from his scouting report focusing on his special teams work.

Took over as the Trojans' primary kick and punt returner from record-setting All-American Leodis McKelvin, taking one kickoff back 95 yards for a touchdown against North Texas … Returned a blocked field goal 65 yards for a score against ULL … Finished the season ranked 30th in the nation, and first in the Sun Belt, in kick returns, averaging 25.7 yards per return, or 2.5 yards more per return than McKelvin had as a senior to earn All-America honors …
