The Phillies will continue bringing players from “The Shore To The Show” as they’ve extended their minor league contract with the Lakewood Blueclaws.

“The BlueClaws, their staff, the Township of Lakewood and their great fans have provided the Phillies and our young players a tremendous environment over the last 10 seasons,” said Benny Looper, Phillies Assistant General Manager, Player Personnel.

“We are excited to extend what has been an exceptional relationship.”

Former Blue Claws that have made the Phillies include Ryan Howard, Cole Hamels & Carlos Ruiz. 35 players in all have made it to the big leagues since the Blue Claws were founded in 2001.

As someone who used to live in Toms River and caught many many Blue Claws games, it’s well worth a trip out there to see them play. First Energy Park is arguably the nicest place to see a game in the Phils minor league system.
