The Phillies will continue bringing players from “The Shore To The Show” as they’ve extended their minor league contract with the Lakewood Blueclaws.↵
“The BlueClaws, their staff, the Township of Lakewood and their great fans have provided the Phillies and our young players a tremendous environment over the last 10 seasons,” said Benny Looper, Phillies Assistant General Manager, Player Personnel.↵
“We are excited to extend what has been an exceptional relationship.”↵
Former Blue Claws that have made the Phillies include Ryan Howard, Cole Hamels & Carlos Ruiz. 35 players in all have made it to the big leagues since the Blue Claws were founded in 2001.↵
As someone who used to live in Toms River and caught many many Blue Claws games, it’s well worth a trip out there to see them play. First Energy Park is arguably the nicest place to see a game in the Phils minor league system.
