After Brett Cecil got pummeled by Tampa Bay and Brandon Morrow was shut down for the season, the Jays made the move to call up the former Phillie prospect. Playing for Double-A New Hampshire, Kyle was 14-9 with a 2.94 ERA. Said GM Alex Anthopoulos:
↵↵↵We think Kyle is going to be a factor for us in the rotation and we think he’s going to be able to compete for a starting job next season in spring training.

He’ll be pitching against Baltimore, so he’ll probably shut them out. Against the Yankees on September 28th though, that should be fun to watch. Good for him getting a shot this early — he probably wouldn’t have made the team in Philly next season.
