Eagles Starting Their Own Drumline

The Philadelphia Eagles are looking to pick up a football tradition that’s been alive and well in college and high school for a long, long time.

The initial plan is for a dozen or so paid drummers to perform in uniforms before games, perhaps moving to various locations outside Lincoln Financial Field, said Eagles spokeswoman Pamela Browner White.

“The purpose is to engage the fans and create excitement, kind of get the blood flowing,” she said, noting that the Broncos, Bears and other teams have reported success with their drumlines.

I like the idea personally. The sound of a drumline is unmistakably the sound of football to me and absolutely adds to the atmosphere of a game. Frankly, I think they should take it a step further and let the drums replace the blaring music piped over the speakers at every break.
