Sixers Coach Doug Collins Makes A Funny

Gotta hand it to new Sixers coach Doug Collins, who opened his press conference yesterday with a good line…

↵
↵He opened the talk with this statement, which was quite savvy: “I’m starting Michael Vick at point guard on Tuesday, just so you know.”↵

It’s smart for Collins to have some fun with the juiciest sports story in the city right now. He was actually asked whether he feels it’s difficult with the Phillies and Eagles sucking up all the headlines in town.

“Last year the fact that our team was not playing well, I think being at home overwhelmed them. And it was tough. We have to show these fans we’re going to compete every night. If we do that, we’ll win games. And if we do that, this city will start embracing you again. But I said, ‘To get embraced, you have to be embraceable.’”

That was probably the biggest issue with the 09/10 Sixers, they were anything but embraceable. Eddie Jordan took a young team that loved to play quick and run, and turned them into a boring, dysfunctional mess.
