Eagles Safety Nate Allen Named NFL Defensive Rookie Of The Month

When the Eagles traded Donovan McNabb to the Washington Redskins this offseason, they got a high second round pick in this past draft and a conditional 3rd or 4th in next year’s draft. With that first pick, they took safety Nate Allen from the University of South Florida.

So far, so good. Today, Allen was named the NFL’s top defensive rookie for the month of September.

Allen has two interceptions, a sack, and three pass defenses with 12 tackles over the first three games of the season.

He is the first rookie since 1994 to have an interception in each of his first two NFL games and the first Eagle to have a pick in his first game since Eric Allen did it in 1988.
