Trevor May's Big Day Gives Lakewood a Game One Victory

Kicking off the Low-A South Atlantic League postseason, the Clearwater demotee Trevor May got the start and didn’t disappoint. Continuing his string of dominance, May tossed 6.2 innings of shutout baseball, racking up 13 strikeouts to just one walk in the process. In his last 4 starts, the righty has totaled 38 strikeouts to only 3 walks. Relief prospects Josh Zeid and Eric Pettis came on to shut down Hickory on the way to a 7-0 win.

Home runs by Jon Singleton, Sebastian Valle, and Alan Schoenberger provided more than enough offense for the Blueclaws. But May was the story tonight, and if he can carry his newfound control over to next season in Clearwater, his stuff is good enough to be a top of the rotation arm.

Lakewood looks to close out the series at home on Friday with stellar RHP Brody Colvin taking the mound.
