Villanova Basketball Continues To Roll With Win Over South Florida

Corey Stokes continued his big play this year with 22 points while Dominic Cheek provided 17, as #7 Villanova beat Big East rival South Florida, 83-71 on the road. Stokes and Cheek were a pretty amazing 9-9 from three point land. The recurring theme of the night seemed to be Maalik Wayns driving the lane, getting fouled or kicking it out to Stokes or Cheek for open shots.  Wayns had 16 points, 10 of which came from the foul line, to go with 9 assists.

USF Bulls blog, Voodoo Five was left gushing about Stokes' stroke.

Corey Stokes and more surprisingly Dominic Cheek shot a perfect 9-9 from three tonight. Just an insane performance from those two. Stokes has been lights out over the last couple of games, but you don't appreciate his shot until you see it live. He should have a 10 year NBA career just because of his shot.

The Nova Blog was impressed with Stokes as well.

-The Cats needed an answer and who else but Corey Stokes to the rescue.  Just like we saw in the Temple game, Stokes demanded the ball and did not disappoint; he simply could not be stopped from anywhere on the court.  After putting up 9 points early in the second half, he drained a few more threes when the Bulls started to threaten to give VU a little breathing room down the stretch.  Complimenting Stokes was the shooting of the usually erratic Dominic Cheek and with four minutes left, Stokes and co. led by 12.

Villanova has won five straight meetings between the teams.
