Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Trent Cole is expected to miss the team's Week Six matchup against the Washington Redskins because of a calf injury, according to head coach Andy Reid.
Reid said Cole was making progress, but that it would be a "stretch" for Cole or Jason Peters to play in Week Six.
Cole recorded three sacks in Philadelphia's first four games, but was held out of the team's 31-24 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. He remains one of the league's best pass-rushers when healthy, recording double-digit sacks in each of the last two seasons.
The Eagles initially feared Cole would miss the entire season when he injured himself in Week Four against the San Francisco 49ers, but an MRI revealed a grade 2 calf strain that alleviated those fears. The Eagles do have a Week Seven bye that could allow Cole enough time to recover and return for the following week against the Dallas Cowboys.
