WIP To Air 17 Live Philadelphia Union Games

Great news for Union fans. Washington Post soccer writer Steven Goff is reporting that WIP will broadcast 17 live Union games on the radio next season. This is the station that’s the flagship for the Eagles, Flyers and Sixers, so obviously it’s a big deal for the Union and just another step in them being accepted as a major player in the Philly sports scene.

The news will come as a major relief for soccer fans, who feared that they lost their biggest radio friend when 94 WYSP was taken over by WIP. YSP was a big supporter of the Union, whereas WIP virtually never even mentioned them. So the local soccer community was worried they would lose their main voice when 94 was taken over.

Certainly if WIP is broadcasting the Union games, there’s a much better chance soccer fans will be able to get some more coverage over the rest of the day on the sports talker.
