Temple Vs. Penn Final Score: Owls Outlast Quakers 73-67 In Overtime

Temple bussed its way over to "The Cathedral of College Basketball" on Monday night to take on Pennsylvania at the Palestra in Philadelphia.

It wasn't easy and it certainly wasn't pretty, but the Owls were able to outlast the Quakers 73-67 and kick off the 2011-2012 season with a win.

Senior guard Juan Fernandez had a big night for Temple, scoring 19 points with three rebounds, five assists and one steal. Surpassing him, albeit in a losing effort, was Pennsylvania's Zack Rosen, netting 27 points with six rebounds, six assists and one steal.

Both teams were deadlocked at 28 apiece at the end of the first half and then 29-29 to close the second, sending it into overtime. From there, Fernandez turned up the heat and led his team to a six-point victory.

The Owls start the season at 1-0 while the Qukaers break even at 1-1.
