The Temple Owls vs. the Ohio Bobcats, which emanated from the Peden Stadium tonight (Nov. 2, 2011) in Athens, Ohio, has come to a close.
So to, has Temple’s quest to lock up a spot in the Mid-American conference (MAC) title chase.
That’s because the Bobcats clawed their way to victory by a score of 35-31 in a wild fourth quarter finish that went back-and-forth until the final minutes.
Brandon McManus hit a 27 yard field goal to break a 21-21 tie entering the final fifteen minutes of play, but Tyler Tettleton found Jordan Thompson on the very next drive to get the Bobcats back on top.
Once again, the gang from Philly would keep pace, thanks to Chris Coyer’s pass that was complete to Deon Miller in the end zone.
It wouldn’t be enough.
Like he did all night, Tettleton gave the ball to Donte Foster, who scooted into the end zone to put Ohio up for good.
The Owls had another chance after the two minute warning, but turned the ball over on downs when Coyer underthrew Joe Jones on fourth and four.
Tough night for Temple, who came close … just not close enough.
