The Saint Joseph Hawks moved to 7-3 on the season and 4-0 at home as they handed the 17 ranked Creighton Bluejays their first loss of the season, by a final of 80-71.
Hawks guard, Carl Jones played a great game. He finished with 29 points on only 17 shots, and also recorded five assists, five rebounds and three steals. The only blemish on his stat-line is the seven turnovers he committed.
The Hawks were able to dominate Creighton in the paint, grabbing 13 more total rebounds, including 12 offensive. They also blocked seven of the Bluejays' shot attempts and forced them to foul 26 times – double the 13 fouls the Hawks committed.
At 7-3 the Hawks find themselves in the middle of the pack of the Atlantic 10 Standings, with conference play beginning after the first of the year. Xaiver sits atop the conference with what is about to be an 8-0 record – ranked eighth in the country.
St. Joe's next game is scheduled a a week from now when they host the Villanova Wildcats in the third of their present six-game homestand, in which they've won their first two.
