Albert Pujols Spurns Marlins, Signs With Angels

The Marlins attempt to build a super team team in one offseason has taken a major stumble today as Albert Pujols has chosen to sign with the Angels. The Miami Marlins had tabled 10 a year, $200 million deal, but Anaheim has reportedly topped that and gone up to an amazing $260 million.

That makes Pujols the highest paid player in MLB history.

This is unambiguously good news for the Phillies as we all saw what Pujols did to the their pitching in the NLDS. Having to face him countless times per year wasn’t something anyone in Philly would be looking for.

↵

It’s doubly good news actually because his departure from St. Louis probably removes them from contender status for next season.

So good for you Albert, have fun out there. Hope we never see you again. And for the Marlins, if you still want to build a dream team, Vince Young is available.
