Sixers Sink East Leading Celtics 89-86

Two days ago the Sixers faced one of the best teams in the Western Conference and took them to overtime, but tonight they faced the best team in the East and they beat them. Spencer Hawes was the surprising star of the night with 14 points and 10 boards as the Sixers beat the Celtics 89-86 at Wells Fargo Center.

The Sixers' resurgence gave the game against their long time rivals a spark that's been missing in recent years and the home teams' defensive intensity seemed to feed off the spark. They held the Celtics to their lowest point total in 7 games. This was just the Celtics' 8th eastern conference loss of the season.

Andre Iguodala flirted with another triple double with 13 points, 9 boards and 8 assists. Elton Brand scored 14 and Jodie Meeks added 13. Nenad Kristic had 16 points and 15 rebounds in the loss.

The Sixers remain a half game back of the idle Knicks in 7th place in the East. Next up, the Sixers travel to Milwaukee to face the Bucks tomorrow night.
