Philadelphia Soul Remain In AFL Week 2 Coaches Poll Despite Loss

I don't need to remind NFL fans that the labor impasse between the league and its players is still unresolved. Who knows what progress, if any, is being made towards reaching a new collective bargaining agreement as we slowly but surely move into the spring and summer months. But while we wait, there is some football being played around town -- the Philadelphia Soul of the Arena League.

The Soul were crushed by the Chicago Rush in Week 2, 62-28. The loss leveled their record to 1-1, but despite the humbling defeat, Bon Jovi's team remained in the Top 10 in this week's AFL Coaches Poll. Philly was the only team to remain in the top ten that lost their Week 2 matchup. Here's the rankings as voted on by the league's coaches.

Rank Team Record Points Last Week
1 San Jose SaberCats 2-0 164 1
2 Arizona Rattlers 2-0 145 3
3 Chicago Rush 2-0 134 6
4 Orlando Predators 1-0 122 2
5 Dallas Vigilantes 2-0 81 ---
6 Cleveland Gladiators 1-0 76 ---
7 Utah Blaze 1-0 69 ---
8 Jacksonville Sharks 1-0 69 8
9 Philadelphia Soul 1-1 51 4
10 Pittsburgh Power 1-1 37 9

The Soul return to action against the Milwaukee Mustangs (0-2) on April 4th. It will be the Soul's third road game in a row to begin the year. The Soul won't play in Philly until their fifth game of the season, an April 15th date with the visiting Tampa Bay Storm.
