John Hollinger Gives Thaddeus Young Some Sixth Man Of The Year Love

ESPN's John Hollinger complied his end of the year NBA awards and while he did not give the Sixth Man Of The Year award to the Sixers' Thaddeus Young (he gave it Lamar Odom), he did name the forward his runner up and stressed that it was much closer than most people realize.

People think this award is a no-brainer, but it's not -- Thaddeus Young of Philadelphia has a really strong claim as the rightful winner. While Young's overall stats aren't as good as Odom's, if we just compare numbers when coming off the bench, it's pretty much a dead heat. Additionally, Young's adjusted plus-minus is the best on his team, and one of the best in basketball.

But Odom's adjusted plus-minus is barely any worse, and in the big picture one has to compare the full body of work, both starting and off the bench, and say Odom was a tad better.

He also gave Doug Collins a shout out in his coach of the year rundown, but opted for Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau.
