Masters Scoreboard: Rory McIlroy Extends Lead

Rory McIlroy began second round play at the Masters tied for first at 7-under. Through 12 holes today, he owns the lead all by himself at 9-under. McIlroy hit three birdies on the front nine today, one of his pace in round one. His birdies on 5 and 9 restored his tow shot lead over Korean K.J. Choi who turned in a second straight impressive round to head into the clubhouse at 7-under.

McIlroy's co-leader coming into the day, Alvaro Quiros shot one over par today to put him at 6-under for the tournament.

As for the some of the big movers today, Fred Couples shot a 68 to bump him up 19 spots into a tie for 5th at 5-under. Luke Donald and Jim Furyk also both shots 68s to leap them up 23 spots. As for the big movers in the other direction, Trevor Immelman struggled shooting a 73 today dropping him 12 places to 19th. Miguel Jimenez dropped 13 spots afte he was a shot over par today.

Phil Mickelson shot even par today keeping him at 2-under for the tournament. Tiger Woods got a late start and is even through 8 holes.

Some notable names projected to miss the cut are Stewart Cink, 2007 Masters champ Zach Johnson, Stuart Appleby, Ernie Els, Padraig Harrington, Tom Watson, Martin Kaymer and Vijay Singh.
