Utley homered in the fifth and also played the field for the first time this year. The best news is that after the game, he reported no pain in his right knee.

Carlos Ruiz, who has been on the DL with lower back inflammation, also reported no pain and should be back with the Phillies Friday. His return comes just in time as the Phillies announced today that Brian Schneider would be placed on the DL with a hamstring injury.

The news wasn’t so great for Roy Oswalt, who did not speak to the media, but seemed to missing a few mph off his fastball. Carlos Ruiz told the Daily News that Oswalt’s location was good, but confirmed he was missing a bit of zip.

“I didn’t see too much life in his fastball. I think the last innings were better, better location,” Ruiz said. “The breaking ball was there, and he was throwing more off-speed today. The fastball didn’t feel like his fastball was there. He said he felt OK.”
