UFC 133 Confirmed for Philly; Eight Fights Announced

The Ultimate Fighting Championship will be returning to Philadelphia for the first time in two years on Aug. 6.

The event will be headlined by Phil Davis (9-0) and Rashad Evans (15-1-1). Davis will be looked at as the hometown fighter has he is from Harrisburg and wrestled collegiately for Penn State. The main event was originally supposed to be a Light Heavyweight Championship fight between Evans and Jon Jones but the champion had to pull out after damaging a ligament in his right hand.

The semi-main event will feature Rich Franklin (28-6, 1 NC) and Antonio Rogerio Noguiera (19-5). Both fighters were on the wrong end of a unanimous decision their last time out in the Octagon: Franklin to Forrest Griffin and Noguiera to Davis.

International superstars Vitor Belfort (19-9) and Yoshihiro Akiyama (13-3, 2 NC) is the other big fight on the card. Belfort lost to Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva in spectacular fashion his last time in the cage while Akiyama is riding a two fight losing streak.
