The Phillies will be playing in their 19th straight game without a day off tonight against the LA Dodgers. The Phils are an impressive 14-4 during that stretch and will look to make it 15 with Cliff Lee on the hill tonight. Ryan Madson put it succintly when asked about their current run.
“We’ve been really good,” Madson said. “Tomorrow we’re going to go out there with the same kind of confidence we had today. That’s been the thing. We’ve just been really confident in what we’re doing.”
How about some more impressive numbers? The Phils have won a season high seven straight road series. They have not lost a road series since mid June and are 19-8 against the NL West.
Cliff Lee threw his fifth shutout of the year against the Giants over the weekend and will look for another win over an NL West squad as he’s opposed by Ted Lilly this evening. Those two matched up earlier this season, with Lee getting the win. In his career against the Phils, Lilly is 1-5 with a 5.49 ERA.
