Chris Pronger Releases First Statement Since Injury

Flyers’ captain Chris Pronger was ruled out for the season with post concussion symptoms back in mid-december, but he’s been out of the lineup since November 19th. Via the Flyers twitter account, Chris Pronger released his first public comments since his injury.

“It is very, very tough right now. I don’t feel well and it hurts so much not to be playing,” said Pronger.

Tim Panaccio reports that Pronger has had little contact with the team and some of his close friends report that they also have not heard from him. Panaccio says that the team is worried that he’s depressed over the situation.

Team officials are worried about Pronger’s fragile mental state of mind, in the sense that he may be suffering from depression caused by having to deal for the first time in his career with a head injury that is not getting better. Pronger has always prided himself on his ability to recover from injury and train at the highest level. He can no longer do that. The fact Pronger has gone into seclusion also worries the club and fellow teammates.
