St. Joe's Vs. Duquesne: Hawks Net 84-82 Overtime Win

The Saint Joseph’s hawks needed a six-point extra frame to beat the Duquesne Dukes on Wednesday night. The Hawks won on the road by a final score of 84-82, giving them a win as they open conference play in the Atlantic 10.

Carl Jones, the Hawks’ leading scorer, had 18 points on the night, right on his season average. He also had one rebound, four assists and two steals. Langston Galloway led the team with 19 points. Galloway also made half of his six three-point attempts. The most notable performance of the night came from sophomore forward C.J. Aiken, who had nine blocked shots to go with seven rebounds and 15 points. Halil Kanacevic had 15 rebounds and 11 points.

Dukes guard T.J. McConnell led his team with 28 points, four rebounds, five assists, one steal and a blocked shot. Sean Johnson, the Dukes’ leading scorer this season, had 17 points.

The Hawks are now 1-0 in A10 play and 11-4 overall, that’s enough for first place in the A10. They host the Charlotte 49ers on Saturday.
