In a minor upset the Charlotte 49ers defeated the St. Joe's Hawks by a final score of 57-52. The loss drops the Hawks to 11-5 on the season and 1-1 in conference play. The Hawks only had two players score in double figures – Halil Kanacevic who scored 12 and Carl Jones, who led the team with 14.
In our preview we had an interesting stat about the 49ers – that they are 7-0 when forward Chris Braswell scored 13 or more points and 1-5 when he scores less than 13. Well, tonight Braswell was held to nine points on 2-11 shooting and the 49ers came out with the win. Somehow the 49ers were able to win without their best player playing well, shooting 34 percent overall from the field, 29 percent from three and 59 percent from the free throw line.
St. Joe's next game is against the Fordham Rams.
