2012 Big East Football Standings: Temple drops first conference game

Rutgers and Louisville are ahead of the pack in the Big East, while Cincinnati fell for the first time this season with a loss to Toledo from the MAC.

Temple couldn't stop Rutgers from remaining undefeated Saturday, but the Big East lost one of its unbeaten teams as Cincinnati lost a surprising road matchup to a strong MAC team in Toledo.

Temple entered Saturday's game at 2-0 in-conference, putting them near the top of the standings despite a sub-par non-conference schedule. However, they were no match for the Scarlet Knights, who moved to 7-0 (4-0) on the year with a 35-10 win. Louisville also stayed undefeated by holding off a rally from South Florida, winning 27-25.

The Bearcats could not stay out of the loss column; they fell behind early, going down by double digits in the first quarter and left Toledo with a 29-23 loss. The Rockets are now 7-1 on the year, with their only loss coming in Week 1 on the road against Arizona.

Elsewhere in the Big East, Syracuse handled UConn 40-10 while a Pitt team without a conference win on the season beat Buffalo.

Here's a look at the full conference standings, with Rutgers and Louisville leading the pack:
