After a loss to Ohio State this past weekend, Penn State finds itself on the outside looking in of this week's BlogPoll Top 25. But there is still movement all across the poll, including within the top five.
As things stand, Alabama comfortably held onto the top spot at No. 1, receiving 60 of 77 first place votes, with Kansas State jumping up from the No. 4 position to No. 2 after their dominating 55-24 victory over Texas Tech on Saturday. Oregon stayed at No. 3, with Notre Dame moving up a spot to No. 4.
The only new team to this week's top five came from LSU, which jumped from No. 6 to No. 5, and could make an even more massive jump if it win its next game. That's because the Tigers will host No. 1 Alabama this coming Saturday at 8 p.m. EST, with the winner gaining the inside track on this year's SEC West championship.
Locally, Penn State is not part of this week's Top 25 after losing to Ohio State at home last Saturday.
As a matter of fact, the Buckeyes are one of only two Big Ten teams, along with Nebraska, which is ranked this week. At 9-0, the Buckeyes come in at No. 8 in the country, while Nebraska is up to No. 21 after Saturday's victory over Michigan.
