2012 bowl projections: Kansas State, Oregon slated for championship tilt

The Kansas State Wildcats and Oregon Ducks are looking at a championship bout.

It's been a great year of college football, and it's soon about to finish with a bang when bowl season comes around.

The Philadelphia-area teams aren't going to be making any appearances, with the Temple Owls still finding their footing in the Big East and the Penn State Nittany Lions banned from postseason play.

However, the national games are still looking like premier contests as usual. SB Nation's Jason Kirk projects the Oregon Ducks will finally have their chance to play for the national championship, and they'll be looking across the field at the Kansas State Wildcats.

Another undefeated team, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are predicted to play the Big Ten's Nebraska Cornhuskers in the venerable Rose Bowl.

In the Fiesta Bowl, the Oklahoma Sooners and Georgia Bulldogs are expected to meet, and the Sugar Bowl would have a classic game between the Alabama Crimson Tide and Clemson Tigers.
