The Philadelphia Phillies are interested in free-agent outfielder Cody Ross, according to a report by Buster Olney of ESPN.
Coming into this offseason, corner outfield was an area that was largely targeted as a position of need for the Phillies heading into the 2013 season. Ross spent last season with the Boston Red Sox and is coming off consecutive seasons with one-year contracts. According to Olney, Ross and his representation are interested in acquiring a three-year deal worth somewhere in the range of $25 million.
Ross has an interesting relationship to Philadelphia as he was a key member of the 2010 San Francisco Giants who defeated the Phillies in the National League Championship Series. Ross was ultimately named the MVP of the NLCS and went on to win the World Series with the Giants.
According to John Paul Morosi of Fox Sports, the Baltimore Orioles are also interested in acquiring Ross.
