The 2012 version of the Philadelphia Marathon is set for Sunday morning, but the event's various activities get started Friday.
The main event, the marathon and half marathon, gets going at 6:57 a.m. ET for participants using wheelchairs or handcycles and at 7 a.m. for all other runners. First place male and female marathon finishers receive a cash prize of $3,500.
The weekend's activities get started Friday afternoon with a Health and Fitness Expo that runs all day and is being held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Runners can also pick up their race bibs and packets at the same place all day Friday.
Saturday features the Rothman Institute 8K run, beginning at 7:25 a.m. ET for participants using wheelchairs or handcycles and at 7:30 a.m. for all other runners. Then, at 10:30 a.m., a Kids Fun Run will get underway, with registration opening onsite at 9 a.m. The Health and Fitness Expo, along with race packet pick up, is also available throughout the day Saturday.
