The Philadelphia Marathon doesn't take place until Sunday at 6:57 a.m ET, but there is plenty happening on Saturday leading up to the main event. A shorter race, registration for participants, a health expo, as well as an event for kids will be held on the marathon's eve.
Saturday's schedule starts with the Rothman Institute 8K. Wheelchairs and handcycles will begin at 7:25 a.m., with the runners to take off five minutes. later. The event will begin on the corner 22nd Street and Benjamin Franklin Parkway, near the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
A few hours later it will be the kid's turn to race, as the Kids Fun Run starts at 10:30 a.m. On-site registration starts at 9:00 a.m., and the run will start at the same spot as the Rothman Institute 8K.
Two all-day events are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Hall A of the Pennsylvania Convention Center on the corner of 12th and Arch Streets. A Health and Fitness Expo will accompany Race Packet pick-up for the marathon runners during that time.
