2012 Big Ten Football Standings: Nebraska, Wisconsin sit atop divisions

Examining the Big Ten standings following a busy week of action.

Eric Francis

The Big Ten has been down this season compared to previous years. With just one weekend remaining in the regular season, it appears the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Wisconsin Badgers will play for the conference crown.

Ohio State and Penn State have better records than Wisconsin in the Leaders Division, but both programs are ineligible for postseason play. The Badgers are 4-3 against Big Ten foes and have locked up a spot in the title game. Purdue and Indiana are both 2-5 against the conference, while Illinois is winless at 0-7.

In the Legends Division, Nebraska and Michigan are currently tied with 6-1 records. The Cornhuskers won the head-to-head matchup though, and assuming they take care of lowly Iowa on Saturday, they'll win the division. Michigan has to travel to Ohio State to take on an undefeated Buckeyes team. If they lose, Nebraska is the Legends winner regardless of the Huskers' performance.

Here is a look at the rest of the standings. Five teams are bowl eligible, and Purdue could be with a win over Indiana on Saturday.
