After starting the game on a 21-3 run, Penn State let up in the second half, and needed overtime to defeat Delaware State by a score of 80-76.

D.J. Newbill's layup with 30 seconds left in the extra period gave the Nittany Lions a lead they wouldn't relinquish, with Brandon Taylor icing the game with a pair of free throws.

Hornets guard Casey Walker led all scorers with 24, shooting 5-13 from the three-point line. But he missed his final six shots on the day, and his teammates failed to pick up the slack in the waning minutes.

Newbill led the way for Penn State, scoring 22 points with five assists as well as five rebounds.

Tyshawn Bell's three tied the game with 12 seconds to go and Penn State was unable to convert, sending the game into overtime.

This was the Nittany Lions' second overtime game this season, having beaten Providence Nov. 16.
