The year comes to a close with a Philadelphia basketball rivalry battle on Monday as the Drexler University Dagons host the St. Joseph's University Owls on New Year's Eve.
It will be the 53rd meeting between the two schools, St. Joe's currently holding a commanding 43-9 lead in the series.
The Hawks enter Monday's game at 6-4 on the season after snapping a two-game losing streak on Friday. St. Joe's knocked off Iona, 96-91, on Friday after a pair of losses to Villanova and Fairfield.
Carl Jones and Langston Galloway lead the Hawks' offense, averaging 16 and 15.1 points per game, respectively. Ronald Roberts is leading the team in rebounding thus far in the season, pulling down 8.5 boards per contest while also scoring 10.5 points per game. Sophomore guard Evan Maschmeyer has been cleared to return have missing the beginning of the season with a hand injury.
Drexel is 4-7 on the season heading into the final game of 2012. The Dragons also come into Monday's game on a high note after beating Davidson, 69-58, in their last game.
Damion Lee has led the scoring charge for the Dragons, averaging 18.6 points per game. Chris Fouch and Frantz Massenat are also averaging double-digit scoring for Drexel this season.
