St. Joe's fell to 5-5 in the Atlantic 10 on Wednesday after a disappointing home defeat to Saint Louis. The Hawks had won two straight, but shot just 25 percent from three-point range and committed 17 turnovers during the 72-60 loss. Langston Galloway (15 points), Ronald Roberts Jr. (14) and Carl Jones (13) all scored in double figures in the loss, and Halil Kanacevic grabbed 10 rebounds.
UMass has won two straight and four out of five, including a 76-67 victory against St. Bonaventure on Monday that kept the Minutemen perfect at home (12-0). At 7-3, UMass is one-half game behind Temple for the conference lead.
The two teams met previously on Jan. 14. St. Joe's sprinted to a 20-3 lead, but Chaz Williams spearheaded a UMass comeback and the Minutemen prevailed 71-62.
