The Drexel Dragons won their 16th straight game on Wednesday night, downing James Madison 78-61 and earning the top seed in the upcoming CAA tournament along the way.
At 15-2 in the conference and 24-5 overall, the Dragons will head into the CAA tournament (to be held March 2 - 5 in Richmond, VA) amongst the favorites to clinch the automatic NCAA tournament birth.
Just behind Drexel sits both George Mason and Virginia Commonwealth, each of whom have 14-3 conference records, but both teams fell to Drexel earlier in the season.
The top four teams from the conference will earn first round byes in the tournament, while the remaining eight schools will need to win four games in four days to take home the CAA crown.
Drexel's opening round opponent will be the winner of the eight vs. nine seed game, which currently would pit UNC-Wilmington again James Madison. All CAA teams have one remaining conference game left.
