The Philadelphia 76ers' losing streak ends at five after a dominant win on the road over the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday. Thaddeus Young scored 20 points off the bench, and Philadelphia held Detroit to just 31.6 percent shooting from the field in the 97-68 win.
The Sixers never trailed after the six-minute mark of the first quarter. They were played well inside defensively, recording eight blocks and holding rookie center Greg Monroe to 7-of-16 shooting from the field. Young had two blocks in addition to eight rebounds. The quicker Sixers also recorded 17 team steals, forcing 22 total Pistons turnovers.
Head coach Doug Collins left the game between the third and fourth quarter due to flulike symptoms. He was around for his team's big second quarter, however. The 76ers led by two points after the first quarter. By halftime, they led by 16 points.
Lou Williams scored 13 points on 6-for-12 shooting from the field. Jodie Meeks also had a nice game with 12 points and five rebounds. Monroe led the Pistons with 20 points and eight rebounds, and Rodney Stuckey pitched in 17 points in the loss. No other Pistons player registered in double digits.
