All Philly area college basketball teams will be in action this weekend.
La Salle (17-6, 6-2 A-10) and St. Joe's (14-9, 4-4 A-10) meet in a Big 5 game at The Palestra at noon. La Salle is 1-1 in Big 5 play this season as are the Hawks. St. Joe's holds a 62-52 lead in the series but has dropped three out of the last four meetings to La Salle. The Explorers have won their last four games and 10 of their last 12 coming into the contest. The Hawks defeated Richmond on Wednesday.
Temple (16-5, 5-2 A-10) will take a five-game win streak on the road on Saturday to play Rhode Island. The Owls trail La Salle by just a half-game in the A-10 standings. Temple is led by the top two scorers in the conference: guards Ramone Moore (17.8 ppg) and Khalif Wyatt (16.4 ppg). The Owls have defeated the Rams five times in a row and hold a 55-15 lead in the series.
Villanova (10-12, 3-7 Big East) travels to take on Pitt (14-9, 3-7 Big East) in a Big East matchup on Sunday. The Panthers have won three in a row after dropping their first seven Big East games. Villanova lost their last time out against Marquette on Jan. 28. The Wildcats haven't won at Pitt since 1996.
