In the eyes of more than a few bracketologists, the Dragons Dragons did enough to get themselves into the field of 68 for the 2012 NCAA Tournament, but the selection committee did not agree. In fact, the committee had Drexel as one of its first four out along with Oral Robert, Nevada & the Miami Hurricanes.

Drexel ripped off 19 straight wins since the start of the new year and looked like a shoe in for a tourney bid, but in the past few weeks caught a few tough breaks. The first was of their own doing when they lost to VCU in the CAA tournament title game. That gave VCU an auto-bid and left Drexel hoping for an at large invite. As of last night, ESPN's Joe Lunardi had Drexel as the final team in his field, with the caveat that if St. Bonaventure pulled an upset in the Atlantic 10 title game, the Dragons could be pushed out.

Unfortunately, that's exactly what happened. The Bonnies pulled off a big upset, they were in and Drexel was out. Nevertheless, it was a great season for the Dragons and they will certainly get themselves an invite to the NIT. That bracket will come out at 9pm.
