Philadelphia Union's Sheanon Williams Called Up To USMNT U-23 Squad

Union defender Sheanon Williams has been called up to the US Men’s National Team under 23 squad, currently set to take part in CONCACAF Olympic qualifying.

↵

Williams’ call up came at the last minute when defender Joshua Gatt was recalled to his Norwegian club squad due to a rash of injuries. His inclusion in the squad could cause Williams to miss up to two weeks of the MLS season including this weekend’s game against the Chicago Fire and next week’s matchup with the Vancouver Whitecaps. It should be noted that teams are not required to release players for Olympic qualifying, but the Union have typically allowed their players to go.

The Union’s loss is the USMNTs gain here and it is quote an honor to play for your country. So congrats to Sheanon and here’s hoping the national teams performs better than his club squad has so far.
