2012 Masters Leaderboard: Tiger Woods Finishes At Even Par

Tiger Woods finished his first day at the Masters at even par, three shots off the leaders. There was really never a point where Tiger seemed comfortable out there and seemed to fighting Augusta all day.

“I just wanted to keep grinding,” Woods told ESPN, “I hit some of the worst golf shots I’ve ever hit today, but its alright. I just stayed very patient and in the moment. Fortunately that’s about as good as I’ve got there. I could have shot one, maybe two better but I got a lot out of that round.”

Tiger’s tee shot on 18 put him in the woods and he needed to take a penalty stroke and a drop to get out. However, he was able to sacrifice a bogey from the hole.

“It was another bad tee shot left and it was a tricky little drop there,” Woods lamented. "Somehow I got agood swing out of it. From there, the pitch was not easy. I didn’t have a good enough lie to go up top, so I had to take it down and burn it into the hill and it came out perfect. "

The leaders in the clubhouse at -3 so far are Paul Lawrie, Miguel Angel Jimenez & Francesco Molinari.
