Indy 500 2012 Qualifying, Pole Day: Start Time, Radio, TV Schedule And More

Qualification for the 2012 Indy 500 begins on Saturday with Pole Day as the field fights to claim the pole position.

The four-lap qualifying time trials begin at 11 a.m. as racers look to wrap up a spot in next week's Indy 500 field. The top nine finishers will make "The Fast Nine" and compete in another round of time trials later in the day. The fastest of "The Fast Nine" will receive pole position and the rest of the nine will be automatically qualified for next week's race in the order of their finish.

The qualification can be seen on TV on the NBC Sports Network, and will be streamed live at IndianapolisMotorSpeedway.com.

A schedule of Saturday's events follows:

11 a.m. - Qualifications Begin

4 p.m. - Ceremonial Lap Honoring 50th Anniversary of Parnelli Jones' 150-mph Lap

4:30 p.m. - Fast Nine Qualifications Begin

6 p.m. - Pole Award Presentation, Yard of Bricks
