The much anticipated 2012 French Open final between top-seeded Novak Djokovic and three-time defending French Open champion Rafael Nadal has been postponed until Monday.
Rain caused two delays on Sunday, the first coming in the second set. The match resumed after that before being suspended again in the fourth set, but, the match will not resume until Monday following the second delay.
Nadal jumped out to a quick two set lead, winning the first two sets, 6-4 and 6-3. Djokovic, though, would rally as he always does, and dominated the third set, winning 6-2.
The Djoker also jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the fourth set, marking the eighth straight game in the match that he won. Nadal, though, would end that streak in the third game, after which the match was suspended.
Nadal will take a 6-4, 6-3, 2-6, 1-2 lead into Monday when play resumes. Any momentum by either player will certainly be reset overnight.
The match will resume at 7:00 a.m. EST on Monday morning.
