Chase Utley Injury Update: Second Baseman Plays In Intrasquad Game

Philadelphia Phillies injured second baseman Chase Utley played five innings in an intrasquad game on Saturday, according to Matt Gelb of the Philadelphia Inquirer. It's a small sign of progress for a player who just recently returned to the field.

The 33-year-old second baseman has yet to appear in a Major League game this season, as he deals with a knee injury. He's coming off his worst season as a professional, where he hit a career-low .259, with only 11 home runs and 44 runs batted in.

From 2005 to 2009, there were no better second baseman in all of baseball than Chase Utley. And it wasn't even close. Utley's cumulative WAR over that period was 39.2 – the next highest was 23.5.
